Mood Board Monday- My first Mood Board!!!

For those of you who don't know what a Mood Board is, it is a virtual 'board' of pictures that would/could be used to compose a finished, designed room.
You scour stores on the Internet looking for pieces that would compliment each other, and then put them all together to show a finished room.

Pewter + Sage is the host of Mood Board Monday, you can see all the finished mood boards there! For 'Mood Board Mondays', the host gives a piece of furniture that your room is to be based around. We had the option of 2 rugs, and this is the one I chose:

The Andalusia Rug from West Elm:

And here is my Mood Board for a bright and cheery home office:

I started with the rug as inpsiration, and decided a periwinkle color on the walls would be a nice bright color. I think searched for classic, sleek pieces like the parsons desk and the mid-century chair. I wanted pops of yellow (my new favorite color) as well as pops of cherry red. I found the art piece from Urban outfitters and loved the way it tied in all the colors. I also had to have a spine bookcase in there...I really want one myself. I love to see books stacked horizontally!

Here is the breakdown of the pieces I chose and where they are from:

Ok readers, so what do you think of my first-ever mood board??

Is it decent for a music teacher???

  1. Yay, Jenny! I'm so glad you could join us, thanks for taking the time to play!!! This looks awesome for your first time, more than decent for a music teacher:) Wow, what a great unexpected color palette! I would not have thought of pairing the yellow from the rug with the periwinkle and red, but its really cool. That tree wall art was a great find. And I'm loooving that chair! Are you serious, Urban Outfitters? Geez, I always forget about them, I'm going to have to remembre that they have great stuff. Thanks again, definitely stick around for these parties, you're a great addition to the group:)

  2. To the 'anonymous' comment, I deleted it as it had nothing productive to say. If you would like to post some constructive criticism, I would love to hear it! I'd love to grow in my sense of design, as I obviously do not have any training in it! At.all. Thanks!

  4. Hi Jenny! That red floor lamp is HOT! And I clearly need to check out Ikea. I'm loving that chair. I think we are both fans of clean lines. Good job!

  5. Wow! I really like the color combination you've used, it's unusual. I've been eyeing the UO chair, UO pillow, and WE desk myself. Great, versitile pieces!

  6. What an unusual color combo! It would be a lively and energetic place to work. It was wise to use white in large quantities (drapes & desk) to help calm the color down. Really a fun space.

  8. Thanks for the comments everybody! It's definitely a bright space, but I imagine white wood work, and some big windows, flooding the room with light. (I can dream, can't I?)
Plus, when I'm working at home, I know I need all the energy around me I can get!
    Thanks for all the feedback!
